Profile

Marianne is a corporate commercial lawyer with over 20 years’ experience.

Her professional experience was gained in the Public Service as an international maritime policy advisor and Public Prosecutor, in Private Practice at a top-tier international firm and in one of Singapore’s largest law firms, and as Legal Counsel for the investment holding company of an Asian conglomerate.

Prior to joining Jacque Law, Marianne was the Group Director and Group Company Secretary of a leading professional & financial services company with a footprint across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Australia. As a seasoned C-level advisor, Marianne was pivotal in the de-listing, privatisation and sale of the company to a Temasek-backed consortium. She led a multi-disciplinary team in the strategic direction for the Legal, Compliance and Governance functions and is acutely aware of the diverse, intricate regulatory issues which companies need to navigate.

With her wealth of experience and commercial acuity, she provides pragmatic, commercially sound solutions while deftly managing divergent priorities of different stakeholders.

Marianne is a graduate of the University of Bristol and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2009.

She holds Graduate Diplomas from London and Singapore, and received a sponsored residency with the Institute of Maritime Law at the University of Southampton.

  • Advised on various M&A deals, share and asset transfers, shareholder agreements, and corporate structures.
  • Advised on cross-border debt-restructuring and security arrangements in Singapore and Japan.
  • Advised on commercial agreements, distributorship, agency, supply, and service arrangements.
  • Advised on the building, acquisition, divestment, leasing, and operation of vessels and offshore services across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advised boards on corporate governance, fiduciary duties, and corporate authorizations.
  • Designed compliance programs relating to AML/CFT for financial services companies and liaised with regulators across APAC.
  • Led internal investigations and advised on employment, whistleblowing, conflict of interest, personal data breach, and sanctions.
  • Conducted insurance, security, and commercial disputes in the Singapore Court of Appeal and High Court.
  • Led prosecution matters relating to corruption, fraud, and maritime offenses.
  • Advised on investigations by financial services regulators and central banks in APAC and Australia.
